California Indian History and Culture:  An On-Line and In-Class Adventure Beginning September 1, 2000 (continually offered), next seminar to be announced; Students may register at any time on-line, by mail, or at the seminar.  This class qualifies for 2 units (quarter basis).  Persons wishing to participate in the seminar only may do so for a certificate of completion, but no college credit will be offered.  Student may take the seminar only for no credit.
Teaching History and Culture of North American Indians for K-12 Teachers - $400 Stipend for teachers taking class (40 person limit) This is an institute that will be held at California State University, San Bernardino July16-27, 2001 for K-12 teachers.  Attendees will be receive a stipend of $400.  The institute will be given by Julie LaMay, Ph.D. and will feature several guest speakers and a field trip.  60 hours pay points or six quarter units.  
English 365:  Creative Writing This is an advanced, upper-division writing course that emphasizes sophisticated and challenging modes of discourse, including short story, poetry, drama, screenwriting, analysis, orality, performance, and research.
American Indian Literatures:  An On-Line Class Spend 30 hours on-line, approximately 10  hours reading, and approximately 5 hours writing at your own pace of contemporary and traditional literatures.  Learn the elements of American Indian literatures and their applications in oral and post-oral works.  Reading to include Black Elk Speaks, House Made of Dawn, and Grand Avenue and in viewing the movie Windwalker.  This course requires papers to be submitted by mail and a final examination to be given by a proctor local to the student.  Enroll as early as March, 2001.  This class will be accredited by UC Riverside, Extension.   Students to purchase books and pay proctor fees in addition to the cost of the class.
Screen Writing of Native American Stories This is a class for both beginning and experienced screenwriters.  Students will learn the basics of screenwriting and will complete a movie script as their student project.  This class will be offered in the spring of 2001 and will be accredited by UC Riverside, Extension.  Some students completing the class may be selected for a one or two week workshop at either UCLA or Sundance.
