FOUR DIRECTIONS INSTITUTE

California Indian History and Culture: An On-Line and In-Class Adventure

DEMONSTRATION

This is an interactive demonstration presentation that  will highlight a small portion of the total course.  Although this demonstration takes only a few minutes to complete, the class itself requires 8 hours of on-line instruction, 4 hours of reading, and an 8 hour in-class adventure.  The class project will be the preparation of curriculum designed and personalized for each individual instructor.

This class is designed specifically for third and fourth grade teachers interested in how to present the history of  California from a Native American perspective.  The class will demonstrate a four phase model of teaching developed by  LaMay, and it will utilize the theory of multiple intelligences developed by Gardner and Teele.  2 units of credit (quarter basis) are available from UCR Extension.
