The Takic peoples arrived in southern California about 2,500 years ago. All were peaceful hunter/ gatherer mountain and desert cultures. The Cahuilla delineation was a result of the Spanish missionization which separated them from the so called Cupeño. They were several closely connected villages who ranged over the entire San Bernardino basin, the San Jacinto Mountains, and the Coachella Valley.
